Hotel Höfli is in Altdorf, the main town of the canton of Uri, near the southern end of Lake Lucerne. The Klausen Pass road starts on the edge of town and climbs east towards Glarus. South of Altdorf the Reuss valley leads to Andermatt, the hub for the Gotthard, Furka and Oberalp passes, and the Susten road branches off at Wassen. There is a garage for bikes. Being in town means restaurants and fuel are close, which helps on a late arrival from the motorway.
